"You and I" Collection is a collection of artworks by the Egyptian artist Hossam El-Kady, characterized by its focus on human relationships, partnership, isolation, and intimacy.
Recycling Glass Bottles
The original idea of recycling is a part of the life cycle in nature, so my recycled works could be distinct by using environmentally consumed material, construction waste, demolition, etc. I try to assemble all that stuff with art into a new piece; we need it. These artworks are utilitarian and designed to be useful, practical, and attractive. I pray to Allah to make my recycling ideas helpful for humanity and to be easy for popular usage.
The Qamariya is a multicolored stucco-stained glass window. It is the most distinctive decorative symbol feature of Islamic architecture. It also usually has an arch above, which spans a space and supports weight above it. Now in our buildings, we use a horizontal crosspiece overall opening, as a door or window, to carry the structure weight above it, which is called a Lintel. My idea is to merge both Qamariya and Lintel into one piece.
The Qamariya patterns are formed with colored glass to sit above windows and doors or to install on walls as a decorative unit, it will cast its colors on the room. In this way, buildings could be lit by natural light and save electricity. Besides, it will add great natural beauty to our lives.
